Seminar program: specialized research project study on the coconut industry.

Challenges:

• Communication in Singhalese and Tamil.
• Effect of first extended stay outside of Canada in the 1970s, my youth and naivity.
• Group logistics, access to information via plantations, government deptartment heads and processing operations to complete seminar project.
• Mutual cultural expectations.

Resolution:

• Trust, communication, persistence and perseverance.
• Utilizing the local and international channels to open the doors for project research.
• Politeness and kindness without either side being exploited.
